Top 10 Metal Sellouts

Every band that released a classic metal/thrash album eventually gave in to either the current trend or record company pressures and softened their sound and released a collection of songs that at the time could be played for your parents. And we all know THAT is not what metal is about. I am not saying these are BAD albums, just the commercial attempts of the early 90's that seemed to follow the metal classics of the late 80's.

"Need I even explain what Metallica did to us with this release?  A great record, but a rock record...Not the Metallica release we were looking for."
Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss

"Sorry to say, even the almighty Slayer softened a bit after South of Heaven.  A fine album for sure, but everything that came before it is better, and the follow up Divine Intervention sees them return to form."
Ozzy Osbourne - No More Tears (Guitar Recorded Version)

"This Ozzy album sounds so polished and soft I can barely listen to it, and I never do."

"A great album, but as a follow up to the mighty Operation Mindcrime...Ugh"
Megadeth - Countdown to Extinction (Guitar Recorded Versions)

"Megadeth answers the Black Album with their own commercial attempt.  A good album, but it's SO polished and clean.  It's a huge letdown from Rust in Peace and the first real indication that Dave was willing to do anything to catch up to his former band-mates."

"Ahh Testament...You'd never suspect that they would fall victim to the mainstream metal attraction but indeed they did.  It lacks the aggression and raw sound of The New Order, and even has a pretty sappy ballad which was not surprisingly released as video to MTV.  It's still a good album, but it's thrash light.  It would take Testament a few albums before they more than made up for this."

"We shouldn't be surprised by this colorful period for Anthrax, given the I'm the Man EP's success.  This album has a few gems but by the end of it you are bored.  The band claims this one was rushed, and indeed it may have been, but no excuses for the commercial attempt please, Scott."
